This evening at dinner, we glanced over at Elizabeth to see her eating with a knife & fork at the same time!!  Wow!!  We were very impressed, to say the least.  Okay, she wasn’t doing very well, but she held the fork in the left hand and knife in the right and was trying to eat like daddy.  So cute.   Also, we haven’t used the high chair in weeks.  She wants to eat at the table and be grown up.

What has she gotten from me?  She can pick things up with her toes.  Everything else seems to be like Paul.

Today, Elizabeth decided that she no longer wanted to wear nappies.  She’s still wearing them at nighttime, but she flat out refuses to wear one during the day.  Actually, she’s not really wanting to wear any clothes at the moment.  If you come over, we’ll have a little nudist running around the house giggling.

Today is also Paul’s birthday.  He got calls, emails & cards from England, but not one person in my family remembered him.

We couldn’t get her to hold still for very long (too much candy, perhaps?), but here is the costume.  She was a Home Depot worker.  (English translation:  B&Q’s worker).   I took her out to the county attorney’s office to trick or treat on Thursday, then on Saturday evening, we just went to one neighbors house across the street and then to Daniel’s.  Jessica was working and Aunt Tammy & kids were there also, so we just had a visit and then came home.  At this age, who really needs a ton of candy, right?

Elizabeth has started singing the alphabet to us.  Not the whole alphabet, but she has a little tune to “B, C, D, E” and “X, Y, Z”.  She has also increased her counting up to #5.

I tried my best to cut Elizabeth’s hair last night.  Nearly 2″ gone off the back!  Looks a lot cuter and not so mullet-y.

Here are a few pictures from Cameron’s birthday party, which just happened to be on Elizabeth’s birthday, August 29th.

Cameron has turned 18 on the 27th.  Elizabeth is 2 today.  My niece, Mindy, turned sweet 16 on the 24th.

We decided to have a joint birthday party at Aunt Tammy’s house tonight.  We bbq-ed hamburgers & hot dogs and had plenty of other food to go around.  Tonight also, unfortunately, is the night that Paul & Elizabeth decided to get sick.  Paul caught Cameron’s flu and the princess had a bladder infection.

Everyone seemed to have a great time.  Elizabeth just loved to play with the balloons.

Sorry.  We didn’t take any pictures.

Jonathan made a surprise visit today.  We all met at David & Tammy’s new house for pizza.  We were able to have all the grandchildren gather for this rare photo opportunity.  Poor Cameron towers over all his cousins.

Left to Right:  Stephanie holding Justin (I think), Jessica, Cameron holding Elizabeth, Mindy holding Adam, Naomi, Tiffany (folding arms).   In the front is Emily, Sage, Dalton, David, Ryan, and Jason.

In the last couple of days, Paul & I have noticed that our baby is now a little girl.  Suddenly, she can reach things that she couldn’t a few days ago.   I think her vocabulary has more than doubled overnight, too.   Elizabeth is also acting much more ‘adult’.  She can now do all the sounds to the “wheels on the bus” and makes Paul sing it to her constantly.   These are a couple of pics that Elizabeth let me take after her bath tonight.  (yes, those are her own feet!)

My little baby boy graduated Dixie High School today.  Doesn’t he look handsome in his cap & gown?  Mom & Dad drove down for the 8am progam, as did Eric, Cynthia & Emily [pictured below].  After the ceremony, he had a few hours of leisure before setting off to Southern California for his Senior Class Trip.

The last top canine tooth has appeared, which made Elizabeth better tempered for about 24 hours.  Now we have the bottom two to go.  One of them is just a huge lump and she flinches when you touch it.  Hopefully only another couple of days until that one pokes through.

My brother, David, and his wife, Tammy, are in town looking for a house.  David will be going to Japan for the last couple of years of his service in the Marine Corps, so the family will settle down here and David will come here to St. George to live when he’s back.

It’s been nice seeing them again.  Of course Elizabeth is looking forward to when one of her favorite cousins comes to live closer.  When the Nelson’s were here during the holiday’s, Elizabeth really clung onto Jessica.

Adam Nelson was born to Daniel & Jessica Nelson today….  8 lbs. 4 oz.
