We have decided to make a special area for Buster, so he doesn’t poo all over the back lawn. This is getting important now that Elizabeth is starting to toddle around. So this Saturday, we started prepping the area for the block wall. The floor had gravel on it, so we relocated the gravel to the driveway where Cameron parks, so that looks a bit nicer. We also ripped out some plants that we had been meaning to tear out since we moved in. Along the sides of the area were some flagstones. We moved them all to the front of the house. We plan on making a flagstone path from the street to the front door.

My mom & dad were in town today also. We were working hard outside, so mom brought over some lunch and ate it with us while we explained the big plan for the yard. We then went to Costco with them. Elizabeth even let grandma hold her without freaking out! She’s getting to be so big!

Cameron had to work, so he missed out on everything. Next up for the yard: we need to square off the area where the block wall will go for buster’s yard. We need to buy the blocks & mortar and Paul will show off his brick laying skills. (This should be fun to watch.) Then we need to prep the area for the flagstones. It’s all very hard work, but the yard is looking SOOOOO much better than when we first moved in.

On Sunday, Elizabeth went down for a nap, so Paul & I did also. Elizabeth slept for 4 hours, we slept for 3.

Fast forward to nighttime. It’s 10:45 and we’re all going to bed. Cameron decides this is the time to play with Buster. He gets the dog all excited and Buster starts to bark. Of course, this wakes up Elizabeth.

From 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Elizabeth is wide awake and wanting to play. We went for a drive to McDonald’s (as it was the only place open) and got a snack while we drove around a little. Then we got home and watched some tv and ate cheerios before finally deciding it was time for bed. After that, she slept very well. It’s a good thing we were able to nap!

Now that Elizabeth has turned 7 months, she has learned a new trick. She has just discovered that if she wants to get from point A to point B, she just has to roll. No more putting her on the bed and turning your back for “just a second” because she could easily roll off if we’re not watching. She’s quick!! When Elizabeth is on her belly, she’s starting to put her legs under her more & more. I’ll bet she’s crawling by the end of April.

Paul and I had a relaxing weekend (relatively). We usually have a huge list of chores to do, but we didn’t this week. It was nice to just do the normal daily chores at a slower pace. We got to see my mom on Saturday for a little bit. Elizabeth LOVES to see her gramma.

On Sunday, we went for a walk over to the temple parking lot. Paul threw the ball around for Buster while Elizabeth & I laid on a blanket in the shade. Clouds moved in, and by Sunday afternoon, it was raining. For our evening walk, I put Elizabeth in my baby bjorn, facing out. I put my sweater on so it covered her up a bit also. She thought that was the funniest thing and laughed almost the entire walk around the block.

Cameron worked on Saturday and Sunday, so we didn’t see much of him. The rest of the time was spent with Nadalee in Dammeron Valley.

Tomorrow Elizabeth will be 7 months old. Every month, I check out the milestone chart on www.babycenter.com. According to this, Elizabeth should be sitting up on her own by now, which she can’t quite do yet. By 7 months, she should be dragging objects toward herself, but she’s been doing that since 6 months. Also since 6 months, she has also been passing an object fromhand to hand (should do by 8 months) and doing the pincer grasp (should do by 10 months). The jabbering is constant and continuous day & sometimes at night (should do by 9 months).

Elizabeth is quite advanced on most things (according to the chart), but on the physical things, she is a bit behind. I’m sure that’s because she was born so early and was so small. That’s okay, the longer we have to wait before putting outlet covers throughout the house, the better.

Also, poor Buster will have to learn to be whole lot quicker when she gets mobile. The other day, Paul looked over to see Elizabeth holding Buster’s tongue and poor Buster sitting there looking at Paul, as if to be pleading for help.

On Saturday we went to cousin Emily’s first birthday party in Cedar City. It was nice to get out of St. George for a short while and visit with family.

Since Cameron had to work at 2, he couldn’t make it to the party. Grandpa Kingsley, Daniel & Cameron stayed behind to “work” on Daniel’s yard. At 10am, grandpa woke up Daniel. Around 10:20ish, Cameron was picked up by my dad and then they went to a car dealership to browse vehicles. Then they went to Daniel’s and worked for about an hour.

After that hard labor, it was definitely time for a lunch break, so off they went to the Olive Garden. By that point, it was time for Cameron to go to work which, fortunately, is next door to the Olive Garden, so he was dropped off.

Here are a few pictures from the party. It was all Emily could do to hold still on her back for a few seconds, so that’s why she looks a little wiggly. Elizabeth loves talking to Grandma — both of them — but I only have a picture of one (so far).

Sure, Elizabeth has smiled & laughed before, but on Sunday afternoon, she found her funny bone. She suddenly started to just crack up at everything we did. Before, if Paul called Elizabeth a “poo-poo head”, she would laugh. Now, she giggles so much she can hardly lay straight. It is the funniest thing to watch!

Yesterday after work, Cameron went to Natalie’s house in Dammeron Valley. She was driving her truck and it got stuck in the mud — so bad that he had to call his dad to go pull them out. Cameron also got mud all over his nice black pants & shoes.

Last night we went for our nightly walk. I noticed that the porch light was burned out, so after we got back, I went out to replace it. After working on it for a few minutes, I decided that it was just too dark and I should wait until daylight. So I go back into the house and Paul & I sit down to watch our movie (Mr. Smith Goes to Washington) and about 45 minutes later, Buster comes to the door. I’m not sure what he was doing out there for so long, but he went straight to his bed and looked up at us as though he was in trouble.
