FINALLY, the long awaited molar has arrived. Actually, I think it must’ve been there for a day or two, but we just noticed it today. Elizabeth has had her fingers in her mouth a lot this week, but there are also some front teeth on the horizon. I’m glad this molar has finally appeared.

I couldn’t stand it. This morning as I was getting ready for work, Elizabeth came in and the hair was in her eyes again. Paul picked her up, I combed it down, and took a small snip off the front. I wouldn’t call it a first haircut, because there are only a few strands of hair that came off. So this would be her first trim. I’m sure she won’t have an actual haircut for many months.

Last night, Cameron came home from work and went into the office, where Paul & I were both working. Here’s the conversation:
Cameron: Do you like my new jacket?
Paul: I thought you were skint?
Cameron: Yeah, but it was on clearance!

Elizabeth’s hair is getting long. In the front, we have to brush it away from her eyes now. But here is the big question of the day — do we give her a trim? or let it grow and keep it all one length? Let me know what you think.

Last weekend, my dad & Daniel came over and helped put drywall up on the ceiling in the storage room, so now that room is all done. Since we’ve spent the past 2 weekends doing nothing but home improvement, this weekend will be spent relaxing a bit. We have found that we have been so tired & drained this week and we think it’s because we haven’t had any ‘down time’ in a long while.

Paul will be working, of course. I will be doing some basic chores and taking care of Elizabeth. While the babe naps, I might go outside in the light rain and try to straighten the front yard. Other than that, though, we’ll be resting.

Elizabeth is learning her sign language very well. Cameron is still working a lot and has started to clean his room. Two black bin bags later, and we can just barely make out the floor. It’s almost cleaned enough so he can vacuum.

Since Paul was in America for Christmas, and because we had so many other plans around Christmas, I promised Paul that I’d make him an English Christmas Dinner.

On Monday, I made roast, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts (paul had peas & carrots), and trifle. As i was running short on time, I cooked the leftover roast today, and used the drippings to make Yorkshire Pudding. Paul said that it tasted nice, so I must’ve done something right. He also said that Aunt Bettie would be proud of me because my trifle tasted so good.

I don’t think I’ll be winning any cooking contests, but at least I know how to do these things, so I can make them for Paul again in the future. I think when mum comes over in a few weeks, she can make some of Paul’s favorites.

Bath number one was because we went outside and planted the peach trees and sprinkled some straw (to lessen the mud on a rainy day).  It was so hard to keep Elizabeth from climbing out of her stroller, we just gave up and let her play in it.

After playing outside and having a bath, Elizabeth helped mommy make cupcakes.  Of course, she had to have one for her own…

When we borrowed the truck last weekend, we bought some drywall.  I didn’t mind so much that it was sitting in the living room for the past week, but Paul said we had to get rid of it before Mum showed up and this was as good a time as any.

This weekend was spent putting insulation & drywall in our storage room.  Cameron had mentioned that his bedroom was freezing cold during the winter and after looking into the problem, we noticed that there was no insultation between the storage room and his bedroom.  We tore out all the built-in shelves and put up drywall.   Okay, it doesn’t  look professional (like our block wall of last week) but it does the job.

Also, in the storage there was an outlet which we never used, so we turned it around and gave Cameron a couple of new plugs for his bedroom, because we need more electronics in there.

It was hard to do the job during the times when Elizabeth was sleeping, but it’s done now.  Tonight I get to start putting all the storage onto the shelves.

After constant harassment, here is an update of photos of Elizabeth.  As you can see, it’s difficult to make her hold still….this is the best I could get:

You’d think a long weekend would be relaxing.  Not with us!!  I got off work at noon on Wednesdsay, December 31, and didn’t have to go back to work until Monday the 5th of January.

We borrowed Bryan’s truck and hauled a total of 2 loads of compost, 2 loads of topsoil, 2 trips to Home Depot for supplies, 2 bails of hay and 2 peach trees.  In the back yard, we now have built one garden planter, which is about 6′ by 13′ (inside measurement), so we’re all ready to plant this February.

Needless to say, our backs and knees are aching.  Our fingers and hands are sore and raw.  We nearly got frostbite (or at least it felt like it) and we didn’t get much sleep.  BUT we have a nice planter and the yard looks sooooo much better than it did.  I’ll try to get a picture of before & after for you soon.
