Auntie Elaine bought a bat outfit for Elizabeth.  We went for a walk to Daniel’s so we could see the costumes for Ryan, Sage & Dalton.  They had a theme going — a dragon, the princess and the dragon slayer.  Remind you of any video games?

After Daniel drove Jessica to work, they met up with Paul, Elizabeth and I at the “trunk or treat” and we sat around and talked, ate hot dogs and doritos, and passed out candy.  We had a really fun time.   It’s good to get out and see people who aren’t criminals (for me) and Paul likes to mingle with people over the age of 1, if he can.

Just this morning, I asked Elizabeth where “dada” was, and she put up her hands as if to say “i don’t know”.    This is also a good picture so you can see a couple of her teeth.

I keep meaning to write another post, but nothing has been happening.  Elizabeth doesn’t have any new teeth and hasn’t been doing anything new or gaining much weight.  She still sleeps through the night pretty well and takes one or two naps per day.   Not sure if i’ve mentioned this before, but Elizabeth has been really great at understanding what we say, even though she doesn’t say much.  “Where’s your flashlight?” and she’ll go and get it.  Yesterday, I asked her where something was, and she put up her hands as if to say “i don’t know” — super cute.  I’ll try to get a picture of her doing it.

Paul & I have been doing a lot of work in the back 40 still.  This past weekend, we finished moving the wood pile and cut up some of the 2×4’s to make firewood, as the boards were warped and completely unusable.   We found LOTS of black widow spiders and one bunch of termites.  We’re nearly done cutting back the weeds.  We’re trying to hurry and finish it up because burning season is over Oct. 31.

Cameron is still working at Target.  For the next couple of weeks, he’s doing security at the haunted house in Washington, UT.

Mum, Elaine & Rebecca arrive super late Friday night.  We’re going down to see them on Saturday & Sunday in Vegas.  Elizabeth can’t wait!  She’s been practicing saying ”nananana” for days.

The weather has been in the 80’s and we only have the heat on the timer to turn on at 5am for a few hours.  We planted a tree in the backyard yesterday and we have tomato plants in the house which have 3 teeny tomatoes so far.

Brrrrrr…..  the temperature during the day went down to the 60’s!!  It’s only for a few days and then it’ll be back up to the 80’s.  Hopefully the weather stays nice while Mum, Elaine & Rebecca are here in another couple of weeks.

This is Paul and Elizabeth just as they were getting ready to go on their walk.  We didn’t have a hat for Elizabeth, so she had to borrow mine.   (We have since bought one of her own).

This is Elizabeth wondering what these things are on her arms.  She’s not quite used to having sleeves yet.  She keeps tugging at her arms every day after we get her dressed.  Poor little thing….  I know all of you in lands northward & in Europe can all feel her pain.  We try to put socks on her, but she keeps pulling them off.  Maybe she’ll learn to keep them on once it gets REALLY cold, like when we go to Glendale.

Paul, Elizabeth and I took another trip to Vegas, but this time to see Paddy.    He’s been out in this area on a group tour to see the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon and Vegas.

I’m sure Paddy didn’t have much fun with us because we picked him up and went to the mall, where he got to watch me shop.  Elizabeth and I got some new clothes and we walked around and also had something to eat at the food court.  Not super eventful, but at least Paul and Paddy got to chat for a few hours.

 <–weeds before and weeds after–>

we burned on Friday after work, which was a good thing because it rained on Saturday and everything was too wet to burn.   It was really nice to have some cool weather, though.  It’s just now to the point that we don’t put the air conditioner on during the day & night.  We open the window at night and that keeps the house cool enough that we don’t have to put the air on during the day.   Anyone jealous??

Saturday is the big burn day for the weeds in the back 40.  If you’re in the neighborhood, you’re welcome to bring your marshmallows and come watch the smoke.

Remember — we’ll be in Vegas again on Monday to see Paddy.  We’re probably going to the mall to hang out while Paul eats his newly aquired Branston Pickle.  (bleck!)

Also, today we applied for Paul’s social security card, which should arrive in the next week or two.  It’ll be nice to have him be a bit more legal and able to put his name on property, accounts, and drivers license!
