Last night, Cameron worked until 10.  He walked in the door around 10:20 and immediately said that something just flew into his ear.  He tried to get it out and then I looked in.  I couldn’t see anything.  We got out the flashlights & tweezers and still nothing worked. 

I then called Daniel…. “are you awake?”  he was.  So at 10:40, we drove over to his house.  Me in my bathrobe and Cameron is his Target clothes.  Daniel had all of his EMT geer out and started poking and proding Cameron’s ear.  We tried flushing it out with a water filled syringe and grabbing it with long tweezers.  I should mention that during all of this, Daniel & Cameron named the bug Fred.

Because the bug was still alive, we decided to go to the emergency room.  Good thing it wasn’t an emergency, because there was a lot of waiting involved.  We had to get checked in and verify our address and put the plastic bracelet on Cameron. 

They put something in his ear and told him to lay with his head on the side for 10 minutes.  It was to numb the eardrum (in case it got touched) and to kill Fred.  The doctor then came in and carefully plucked Fred from Cameron’s ear.  A very long process for only 2 minutes of “work”. 

The funeral arrangements are being made for Fred.  I will update the blog with that info later.
