working.jpg  Cameron was working a lot.  I went shopping at Target and was able to click a pic while he wasn’t looking.  Also, while going to the grocery store, I noticed a sign out by my house, which I took a pic of.  What does it say?  Walgreens coming soon!  Maybe Bev will come and visit now?

walgreens1.jpg  This weekend’s job was to tape off and remove furniture, so we could paint the house on the 4th of July weekend.  Well, we got so much done that we decided to start painting this weekend.  We’re nearly done with the living room & hallway.  Tonight we’ll finish up those two areas and then probably get the kitchen done before next weekend.  I can’t see us getting our bedroom finished before Friday.   I’ve been taking before and after pics, so I’ll post those as soon as it’s all done.

hair-up.jpg  Elizabeth turned 10 months old and finally has enough hair to put up in a little bow.  (I took this picture at Lowe’s when we were buying our 5 gallon bucket of paint for our weekend job.)  She got her first tooth yesterday, which has totally excited her parents.  I weighed her and she was exactly 18 lbs.  She is crawling like crazy and Paul is trying to teach her to stand up and walk.  I’ve been trying to tell him that it is a bad idea, but in another couple of months, when he’s chasing her all around the house & yard, he’ll tell me that I was right.  Elizabeth is also eating more chunky foods — Cheerios are her very favorite, by far.

I got a call at 12:10 last night from my dad to say that Cameron arrived safely in Glendale.  I was so worried that he might hit a deer or something.  So I called dad this morning around 10 and Cameron was still asleep… awww.  Poor tired boy.  I’m not sure how long Cameron is staying there, but we expect him home by noon tomorrow.  Knowing him, he’ll roll into work at 1:00 tomorrow and we won’t see him until Saturday night at 10:00 p.m.

Alan said we could close today at 3:00, so I’m going to go get Elizabeth and we’re going to go buy the paint for the fun party next weekend.  It’s on sale until Tuesday, but I also like to be prepared & ready early, so it’s just that much less to do before we actually paint.

sleeping.jpg  Elizabeth was exhausted after shopping the other day.   Paul & I were noticing something funny about her (and probably about most kids)…. Elizabeth can be super chatty and babbling, but the second you get on the phone with any family member, she won’t say a word.   She is CONSTANTLY saying “dadadada”.  Nanny Doreen got back from Egypt and Paul wanted her to listen to Elizabeth, but of course, she is completely silent the second Doreen answers the phone.

After reading some forums online, it doesn’t seem odd for a baby to be teething for weeks or even months at a time.  We’re so tired that we’re hoping that this won’t be the case for us.

Yesterday was garbage day.  We have 2 dumpsters, but only manage to fill one with actual garbage.  The other one keeps getting filled with old landscaping.  Since they were freshly emptied, we filled the landscape dumpster again last night.  I have “before” pictures of the side yard, but after 3 fills of the dumpster, we’re still not done and ready for “after” pictures.  Maybe I should take some “during” pictures, so you can see the difference?

Yes, summer has hit in southern Utah.  It’s above 100 every day and never gets below about 74 at night.  It’s hard to know if Elizabeth has a fever.  She’s still been super fussy with this teething.  It seems like it’s been going on forever now.  Both Paul & I are so terribly tired right now.  She is waking up about 5x during the night and it’s exhausting for us both, even though only Paul gets up with her.

Somehow, amazingly, we are still managing to get a tiny bit of stuff done.  I try to take care of the screamy baby while Paul does some work in the evenings, and then we are trying to prep the house for the painting on July 4th, and still manage to do dishes & laundry, etc.

Cameron is working again tonight and tomorrow, and after he gets off work, he is driving to Glendale to spend the night at grandma & grandpa’s, as he has Friday off of work.   Don’t worry, I’ve already lectured him about watching for deer and driving carefully.  I’m really worried about him driving out there alone and so late at night (10pm – 12am).

This weekend, we had a nice lunch at Applebee’s while Cameron worked.  While waiting for our food, we decided to take a few pics of Elizabeth, who was being very silly and giggly.  After the food came, then she was fussy.

Still no teeth.  In fact, the drooling has stopped completely.  She’s still quite fussy (especially at night) and we can see the teeth sitting there, but nothing has come through yet.  It’s very hot at the moment, and she’s having a miserable time with her low grade fever and the outside temp of 105 ish.  Poor little girl.  She loves ice cubes, slushies, and popsicles.

Elizabeth has topped 18 lbs finally.  As you can see from the fuzzy pics, she is getting chunky again, so another lengthening growth spurt is about to come.   She turns 10 months next week.

A long drive to Vegas, a night in a hotel, and the whole fingerprint thing only took about 20 minutes.  The appointment was for 9am.  We arrived early, got the fingerprints done, and were on the road home by 9am.

Elizabeth actually did pretty well, considering that she’s teething.  About 5-7 days ago, she started having a runny nose & runny eye.  At first we thought ‘teething’, but then we couldn’t see anything and she wasn’t being fussy at all.   Maybe she has allergies?  or just a cold?

After we got home from Vegas, I took Elizabeth out of the house so Paul could have some peace & quiet to catch up on work.  While I was gone, the REAL teething started.  Obviously in pain, she started to get really cranky & fussy.  Suddenly, I can see two bottom teething appearing under the gum.  I think we’ll be getting teeth very very soon.

Tonight after work, we’re headed to Vegas.  I can’t find a suitcase, but otherwise, I think we’re all ready to go.

This weekend Paul & I completely filled one household size dumpster with plants from the side of the house.  They were completely intrusive and taking over the entire area.  We sat down and made some plans of renovations on the house, ie:  we’ll be painting the living room, dining/kitchen, hall & master bedroom over the weekend of July 4th.   We’ve also planned to take the flat stones from the side of the house and make a path from the front door to the sidewalk.  Should be pretty.  I’ll get some before & after photos to show you the progress.

We were invited to a birthday party for Sage (Daniel & Jessica’s daughter).  She really turns 3 on Friday, but the party was last night.   Cameron had yesterday off work, so he was able to go and join in the fun.  It was also his first day off in nearly 2 weeks.  Elizabeth was very well behaved, until the end when she was just too tired to stay any longer.   Sage got lots of very nice princess-y presents and a very pink cake.   Not much longer until we’re celebrating a birthday for Elizabeth.

Yes, she’s crawling.  Some days it’s as good as, but she’s starting to go a couple feet at a time now.  We ordered a cage aka “play yard” for Paul’s office, so Elizabeth can stay contained and not get into all of the computer stuff or get her fingers run over by the chairs that she finds so fascinating.  The play yard arrived yesterday and it is all put up and ready for today’s trial run.  Let’s hope she likes it okay.

Another good thing that has been happening lately…. Elizabeth is only waking up once during the night now.  Well, on most nights anyway.  It’s amazing how much better Paul feels with the sleep.  The nights have been hot, so we’re not sleeping as well as we could, I think.
