Now that Elizabeth has turned 7 months, she has learned a new trick.  She has just discovered that if she wants to get from point A to point B, she just has to roll.  No more putting her on the bed and turning your back for “just a second” because she could easily roll off if we’re not watching.  She’s quick!!   When Elizabeth is on her belly, she’s starting to put her legs under her more & more.  I’ll bet she’s crawling by the end of April.

Paul and I had a relaxing weekend (relatively).  We usually have a huge list of chores to do, but we didn’t this week.  It was nice to just do the normal daily chores at a slower pace.  We got to see my mom on Saturday for a little bit.  Elizabeth LOVES to see her gramma.

On Sunday, we went for a walk over to the temple parking lot.  Paul threw the ball around for Buster while Elizabeth & I laid on a blanket in the shade.   Clouds moved in, and by Sunday afternoon, it was raining.  For our evening walk, I put Elizabeth in my baby bjorn, facing out.  I put my sweater on so it covered her up a bit also.  She thought that was the funniest thing and laughed almost the entire walk around the block.

Cameron worked on Saturday and Sunday, so we didn’t see much of him.  The rest of the time was spent with Nadalee in Dammeron Valley.

Needs some work, but this is Cameron’s new ride.
Isn’t it sweet?

Tomorrow Elizabeth will be 7 months old.  Every month, I check out the milestone chart on www.babycenter.com.  According to this, Elizabeth should be sitting up on her own by now, which she can’t quite do yet.  By 7 months, she should be dragging objects toward herself, but she’s been doing that since 6 months.   Also since 6 months, she has also been passing an object fromhand to hand (should do by 8 months) and doing the pincer grasp (should do by 10 months).   The jabbering is constant and continuous day & sometimes at night (should do by 9 months).

Elizabeth is quite advanced on most things (according to the chart), but on the physical things, she is a bit behind.  I’m sure that’s because she was born so early and was so small.  That’s okay, the longer we have to wait before putting outlet covers throughout the house, the better.

Also, poor Buster will have to learn to be whole lot quicker when she gets mobile.   The other day, Paul looked over to see Elizabeth holding Buster’s tongue and poor Buster sitting there looking at Paul, as if to be pleading for help.

lilac.jpg   My lilacs are in bloom. The blossoms on my peach tree are already gone. The daytime temperatures are now in the upper 70’s. Sweaters/jumpers and coats are a thing of the past. All of the trees in town have sprouted leaves and the air smells wonderful.

Stephanie & Mindy are going to be driving through Utah with their color guard group, and they’ll be stopping in Cedar City for an hour tonight. Unfortunately, it’s going to be quite late, so we won’t be able to make it. I think Cynthia will be able to see them, though.

I forgot to mention what Paul & Cameron got me for my birthday. Cameron made me a nice pot in ceramics class. (He likes telling people that he got me some pot). Paul got me a La-z-boy rocker-recliner, to save my back while rocking Elizabeth to sleep at bedtime. VERY much needed. Not much longer until she’ll be sitting on my lap while I read her bedtime stories.

Yesterday I turned 37.  Yes, I know I’m old, you don’t have to remind me.   Everyone in my family remembered to call me, except the Daniel Nelson family.  This is the first time in YEARS that I’ve had both of my parents and almost all of my siblings remember.   Thank you!  I’m almost certain Paul had something to do with them all ‘remembering,’ though, because it’s quite rare for me to get so many phone calls.

I started the day off with getting lotion on my back.  I only get that on Christmas, mothers day and my birthday because I’m told that it stinks and it’s gross when it gets all in between your fingers.  Work was uneventful.  Alan was in court all day, so I just did tedious stuff around the office.  Then last night Paul took us all out for chinese.  Delicious!

Update on the house:  We got a counter on ’nice basement’ house, which was still too high for our blood, so we are going to have to pass on it.   Now we’re looking at expanding our search area and lowering our expectations on what we would like in a house.  We still haven’t gotten to the point where we would consider ‘bad neighbor’ house or ‘pink bedroom’ house, though.

This is our new Easter dress.  And yes, Doreen, I did get it on clearance.

I found out this past weekend that many people are checking out this blog on a regular basis.  Thanks for coming by, everyone!!  All this time I thought I was only typing for the benefit of my sister, Cynthia.

Cameron was with his dad, so it was just the 3 of us.  My mom & dad were busy at the party of some other family, so we didn’t go anywhere for Easter dinner.  Kinda boring, really.

On Saturday, my mom & Cynthia (and Emily) came down and went shopping for toys for my mom’s house, so I met them at Target and watched them shop for 1/2 hour.  Elizabeth was able to get a new dress, though.  I held it up for her and asked her if she liked it.  She grabbed it and wouldn’t let go and eventually fell asleep with it in her hands.  At the checkout, I had to have the lady scan it while it was still in her arms.  lol    It feels like one of my skirts, which I let her play while while we lay on the bed, so I’m guessing thats why she likes it so much.  New pictures of that dress will be coming soon.

After shopping, I put Elizabeth in the stroller and we walked up to the Art Festival on Main Street and mooched around a little bit.  Mostly, our walk was to give Paul a break so he could rest or work or whatever.  Elizabeth really loves to go outside now that it’s so nice & warm.

On Sunday, Paul called England and found out that Auntie Carol’s mum, Cis, had died on Saturday.  We’re very sorry for their loss.   Paul also spoke with Victoria, Auntie Carol and his mum.  Doreen sounds busy with her own house renovations — new carpets & a new bathroom.

Today is the 4th anniversary of my 2nd surgery.  So far, all is going well.

Paul & I refer to houses based upon their characteristics, as we can rarely remember the address or price.

We made an offer on the ‘fixer upper’ house, but another offer came in and they took that one instead.

We went to plan B, which was an offer on the ‘nice basement’ house.  They countered and today we countered back.  This house is out by (my brother) Daniel’s house and is quite nice.  A bit more expensive, but it’s move-in ready.

Paul & I took off work for an hour this morning to review a house that we saw a couple of weeks ago.  It’s a HUGE fixer upper, but we decided to make an offer.  Now we sit back and hope that the counter offer isn’t too high.
